Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Removal Through Programs and Features

After SP1 is successfully installed, it is listed as an update in the Installed Updates list. You have the option to remove the update, which restores the pre-SP1 components, and removes SP1 files from the system.

  1. From the Windows Vista™ default Start menu, click Control Panel.

  2. In Control Panel, click Uninstall a Program.

  3. In the Programs and Features window, click View installed updates.

  4. In the Programs and Features window, select Service Pack for Microsoft Windows (KB936330), and then click Uninstall.

  5. In the Uninstall an update dialog box, click Yes.

  6. In the User Account Control dialog box, click Continue.

  7. Service Pack 1 is removed.

  8. In the Microsoft Windows dialog box, click Restart Now.

  9. The Uninstalling Service Pack: Stage 1 of 3 screen appears.

  10. The Uninstalling Service Pack: Stage 2 of 3 screen appears.

  11. The computer restarts.

  12. The Uninstalling Service Pack: Stage 3 of 3 screen appears.

  13. The computer restarts.

  14. Removal is complete.
