Configuring the Firewall for Remote Desktop or Remote Assistance

  1. Open Control Panel.

    • From the Microsoft® Windows® XP default Start menu, click Control Panel.
    • From the Windows XP classic Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

  2. In Control Panel, click Security Center.

  3. In the Windows Security Center window, in the Manage Security Settings For area, click Windows Firewall.

  4. In the Windows Firewall window, click the Exceptions tab, click to select Remote Desktop and/or Remote Assistance, and then click OK.
