Q: WAN driver update can address black screen issue

A: The display may go black after the unit has been idle for 30 minutes or greater, especially while connected to internet.
The system must be rebooted to redisplay the video.
Updating the wireless network card driver will resolve this issue.

Gateway recommends that all customers update the Atheros Network driver to version V7.7.0.356 (or newer).

The driver can be downloaded from the driver downloads section on the web site.

Instructions

  • Download thefile to the notebook's hard drive.
  • Unzip the file to a folder of your choice
  • Run the SETUP application, give the program permission to continue if needed/
  • Follow the prompts including accepting the terms of the license agreement.
  • Click OK, when asked about inserting the client adapter
