The computer employs hotkeys or key combinations to access certain of the computer's controls like LCD screen brightness and volume output.
To activate the hotkeys, press and hold <Fn> before pressing any other key in the key combination.

<Fn> + <F1>		Capacitive Keys LED Toggle	Toggles the capacitive touch keys LEDs on or off.
<Fn> + <F3>		Sleep	Puts the computer in Sleep or Hybrid Sleep mode.
<Fn> + <F4>		Display toggle	Switches the display output between internal LCD display, an external monitor, or both.
<Fn> + <F6>		Bluetooth	Turns the internal bluetooth on or off.
<Fn> + <F7>		Mute toggle	Toggles the sound on or off.
<Fn> + <F8>		Backlight toggle	Toggles the LCD backlight on or off.
<Fn> + <F9>		Play / pause	Plays or pauses media.
<Fn> + <F10>		Stop	Stops playing media.
<Fn> + <F11>		Previous	Skips to the previous track
<Fn> + <F12>		Next	Skips to the next track.
<Fn> + <PgUp>		Volume Up	Increase the system volume.
<Fn> + <PgDn>		Volume Down	Decrease the system volume.
<Fn> + <End>		Mute	Mute the sound. Press the key combination again to restore the sound.

The computer employs capacitive touch keys that perform the following:

Icon	Function	Description
	PowerSave	PowerSave key enables Gateway PowerSave solution. The Gateway PowerSave solution uses the power-saving features of your computer’s graphics sub-system to reduce overall power consumption. When you press the Gateway PowerSave key, the Windows graphics scheme will be changed to Windows Vista Basic, screen brightness reduced and the graphics chip will be switched to a lower speed. Press the Gateway PowerSave key again to return to your previous settings. (only for certain models)
	MyBackup	MyBackup key launches Gateway MyBackup solution. The Gateway MyBackup solution is a simple three-step process that allows you to create backup copies of your entire system or selected files and folders according to a schedule or as you need to.
	Programmable Key	Programmable key—the programmable key will run the Launch Manager application, you can assign an application as your needed. (only for certain models)
	Wireless	Turns the wireless function on and off.
	Touchpad toggle	Turns the touchpad on and off.
	Decrease volume	Press to decrease the volume.
	Increase volume	Press to increase the volume.
