Using Your Warm-Swap Software
If you are using Windows 95, your Gateway Multimedia Notebook lets you exchange the CD-ROM drive for the diskette drive, or vice versa, while your notebook is in the Suspend mode. This is known as a "warm swap." A small icon in the lower right corner of the taskbar displays the installed drive.
Do not hot or warm swap any drives while your notebook is connected to the mini or the full docking station.
Some applications may not accept a Suspend command and need to be closed before swapping drives.
The taskbar will show the icon for the new drive, and the drive letter will be listed under My Computer and Explorer.
To display information about the bay and the installed drive, open the Control Panel and click Device Bay. You also can swap drives by clicking the Swap Device button in the Device Bay dialog box and following the on-screen instructions.
If you need to install the warm-swap software, use the diskette shipped with your notebook. Before starting the software installation process, make sure the diskette drive is installed in your notebook rather than attached by the optional external diskette drive cable. This software will not install correctly using the cable.
Select Run from the Start menu, then type a:\setup.exe and press Enter. Follow the on-screen instructions.
