"INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE" Message When Installing Windows 2000 on 920 Series Server Affected Products: Servers, Software
Affected Operating Systems: Windows® 2000, Windows® XPISSUE: When attempting to install Microsoft® Windows® 2000 on a 920 series server, the following error message may appear:
STOP 0x0000007B INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE
This error message occurs only when the CD-ROM drive is attached to the tertiary IDE controller.RESOLUTION: Press the F6 key during the intial startup of Windows 2000 setup, and then install the tertiary IDE driver. The driver is located in the chipset utility found on the Server Companion CD, which came with the computer. This utility can also be downloaded from the Gateway Web site. The file name is 7512940.exe.
Note: This issue only effects the 4000798 motherboard. Version of this motherboard that support 533 megahertz (Mhz) Front Side Bus (FSB) are not affected by this issue.
