"You Cannot View The List Of Users At This Time. Please Try Again Later"

ISSUE: When user-level access is selected in the Access Control tab of the Network properties, and you try to add users in the sharing tab, you will receive the following error message: "You cannot view the list of users at this time. Please try again later." All other networking features work on the computer.

RESOLUTION: The Rpcltc1.dll file needs to be extracted from the Windows 95 CD.

  1. From the Start menu, point to Programs, then click MS-Dos Prompt.

  2. At the C:\ prompt, change to the Windows\System directory.

  3. Type: ren rpcltc1.dll rpcltc1.xxx. Then press the ENTER key.

  4. Change to the CD-ROM drive letter (usually D) and change the directory to \win95 directory.

  5. At the D:\win95 (assuming that the drive letter of the CD-ROM is D), type: extract /A win95_02.cab rpcltc1.dll /L c:\windows\system.

  6. Make sure that there are no errors extracting the file, then close out of the MS-DOS Prompt by clicking the X in the upper corner of the screen.

  7. Restart the computer.
