Red Light On Power LED Indicator Does Not Go Away Affected Products: Notebooks
Affected Operating Systems: Not OS DependentISSUE: On the Solo 2300 or Solo 9100 with a 13.3 LCD screen, a red light on the power LED indicator does not go away. RESOLUTION: This issue is resolved by loading the appropriate BIOS on each computer. The new BIOS allows the computer to communicate with the battery more effectively.
For the Solo 2300 load BIOS 7.33 or greater, part number 7502265, BBS file 7502265.exe. Verify the chassis revision located on the bottom of the Solo 2300 as there are 2 BIOS revisions for the Solo 2300.
For the Solo 9100, BIOS 8.14 resolves the issue. BIOS 8.16 is now available by downloading Gateway BBS/WEB file 7502799.exe. Verify the chassis revision on the bottom of the Solo 9100 before flashing a BIOS. Do not flash Solo 9100's with 14.X LCD panels with BIOS 8.16.
Once the new BIOS is flashed to the computer, charge the battery to 100%. If the battery indicator light does turn red, the light should only last 4 to 5 seconds, and then return to orange (charging) or green (charged fully).
