SSU Fails to Load from SCCD 4.7 on Servers with 3 GB or More of Installed Memory

Affected Products: Servers, System CDs
Affected Operating Systems: MS-DOS®

ISSUE: When starting to Server Companion CD (SCCD) 4.7 and attempting to install the 955/975 SSU utility on a server that has more than 3 GB of memory, the program fails to load with the following error message: "Fatal error TNT. 12040: Insufficient memory to load program D:\DRIVERS\955_975\2KSVR\SSU\AF.EXE Memory error code is: Insufficient Physical Memory"

Note: If you are installing this program from the SCCD menu, this error message flashes very quickly. Loading the program manually displays the message more clearly.

RESOLUTION: Use one of the following options to resolve this issue.

  1. Load the utility manually.

    1. With SCCD 4.7 in the CD-ROM drive, restart the computer. At the Gateway Utilities Boot Menu screen, use the DOWN ARROW key to select Boot from CD-ROM, and then press the ENTER key.
    2. Shortly after selecting the Boot from CD-ROM option, press F8 to open the Startup Menu .
    3. On the Startup Menu select Step-by-Step Configuration.
    4. Select Yes to CD-ROM drivers only, and then execute the SSU utility manually. The path is D:\DRIVERS\955_975\2KSVR\SSU\SSU.exe.

  2. Physically remove enough memory from the server so that the total capacity is less than 3 GB.
