Computers with Intel 2100 (Calexico) Wireless Adapters May Experience Connectivity Issues with Linksys BEFW11S4 v4 Wireless Access Point Router Affected Products: Notebook Computers, Desktop Computers
Affected Operating Systems: Not OS DependentISSUE: The combination of the Linksys Wireless Access Point Router, BEFW11S4, and computers with the Intel 2100 (Calexico) wireless adapter, such as any computer with Centrino technology, may cause connectivity issues. In networks that consist of all Calexico network adapters, the router may cease functioning after or during large file transfers. If this happens, the router must be unplugged from the power for a couple of minutes before it functions again. In networks consisting of a mix of Calexico and non-Calexico network adapters, it is also possible that large file transfers time out or stop responding.
There are two versions of the BEFW11S4 that Gateway has shipped: Version 3 and Version 4. Version 3 of the BEFW11S4 does not have the issue. Version 4 has the issue. Both versions have the same part number. Version 3 is larger in size than version 4, and version 3 has more status lights.
You can also tell the difference between the two versions by looking at the model number on the label on the bottom of the unit.
Version 3 reads: BEFW11S4 ver. 3
Version 4 reads: BEFW11S4 ver. 4
