M-6750, M-6750h and M-6755 Are Unable to Detect Wireless Routers

Affected Products: Notebook Computers
Affected Operating Systems: Windows Vista™

ISSUE: Customers are unable to detect any wireless routers out of the box or after reinstalling the operating system.

RESOLUTION: Note: Before proceeding verify that the wireless is turned on and that the wireless status indicator light is lit.

Note: There is both a hardware switch and FN key combinations used to turn the wireless radio on and off. Make sure the hardware switch is in the on position.

If the wireless status indicator light is not lit press the FN + F2 key to turn it on.

With the wireless radio turned on use the following steps to remove and then reinstall the driver. The device will be removed and the notebook will go through a hardware detection process. During the detection process the driver is loaded automatically.

  1. From the Windows Vista™ default Start menu, click Control Panel.

  2. In Control Panel, using the default Control Panel Home setting, click Hardware and Sound.

  3. In the Hardware and Sound window, click Device Manager.

  4. In the Device Manager window, double-click Network adapters.

  5. Under Network adapters, right-click Marvel TOPDOG (TM) PCI-Express 802.11n Wireless (EC85), and then click Uninstall.

  6. In the Confirm Device Uninstall dialog box, make sure that there is no check mark in the Delete the driver software for this device box, and then click OK.

  7. The driver is automatically removed and reinstalled.

  8. Restart the computer.

Note: When reinstalling the operating system on a notebook the wireless network must be turned on prior to going through the operating system startup screens or this issue will occur again.
