Notebook with Intel Video Chipset Does Not Recognize an External Monitor After Undocking

Affected Products: Notebook Computers
Affected Operating Systems: Windows Vista™, Windows® XP

ISSUE: If the computer has recently been removed from the port replicator and powered on while disconnected, the External video port does not recognize an attached external monitor. When you dock a Gateway® notebook computer, the external monitor has to be identified via Intel® drivers or forced with a FN+F4 each time the computer is powered on. This issue only occurs when the computer has an Intel video chipset and the unit has been removed from the port replicator.

Note: This issue only pertains to the external monitor recognition. This issue has nothing to do with the video settings such as Extended desktop or Clone mode.

RESOLUTION: Upgrade to BIOS version 86.02 or later. Version 86.02 is filename 8602.exe, and can be downloaded from the Gateway Web site. Follow the instructions in the driver's readme.txt file for proper installation.
