M285, M280, CX200 Series, CX2600 Series, or S-7200C Series Has Erratic Mouse Movement When LCD Screen is Closed

Affected Products: Notebook Computers
Affected Operating Systems: Not OS Dependent

ISSUE: When using a Gateway convertible notebook computer with an external monitor and you close the LCD screen on the computer, the mouse movements become erratic and uncontrollable. The issue is more severe if the computer is used with the port replicator.

RESOLUTION: Use the resolution below appropriate for your specific model of convertible notebook.

Gateway M285: To resolve this issue update the BIOS to version 78.04 and video driver to version D006-001-001. Updating the BIOS only results in the loss of some function ability for the ATI video driver. Once you install the D006-001-001 video driver, the functionality returns. If you have the Intel video chipset, install only the BIOS. The BIOS does not affect any Intel video settings or lose any functionality.

Gateway M280, CX200 Series, CX2600 Series, or S-7200C Series: To resolve this issue, update the BIOS to version 62.07.02 or later from the Gateway Web site.
