Affected Products: System CDs, Servers
Affected Operating Systems: Not OS Dependent

ISSUE: 9510/E-9510T servers with FRU/SDR version 6.7.1 may experience fans spinning up to high RPMs intermittently. The fans typically spin up for less than ten seconds, and then spin back down. This happens in the absence of heating issues. Additionally, error messages similar to the following are logged in the SEL and in GSM:

Fan #0x40 Lower Non-critical - going low. Trigger Threshold = 0x13. Asserted Event.
Fan #0x4A Redundancy Lost - entered any non-redundant state. Transition to OK. Asserted Event.
Fan #0x4A Non-redundant - redundancy has been lost but unit if functioning with min resources. Transition to OK. Asserted Event.
Fan #0x40 Lower Non-critical - going low. Trigger Threshold = 0x13. Deasserted Event.
Fan #0x4A Fully Redundant. Transition to OK. Asserted Event.

The Fan # may vary, depending on which fans are experiencing the issue.

RESOLUTION: Update the FRU/SDR firmware to version 6.7.4 or later. This firmware is found on the 9510 and E-9510T System Update Package CD version 2.3 and later. This CD is available on the Gateway Web site.
