9510 Server Fans Seem to be Loud

ISSUE: The fans installed in the 9510 server seem to be loud when compared against other server models.

RESOLUTION: Use the following steps to ensure that the fans are running normally:

  1. Ensure that the System Alert light is not displaying an error condition. If it is, view the System Event Log and correct any errors that are being generated.

  2. Ensure that the server is flashed using the latest FRU/SDR version, especially after hardware has been installed and/or removed from the server (including replacement components).

  3. Ensure that the fans spin down towards the end of POST.

Servers that have the High Availability kit will experience less fan noise, as the High Availability kit includes the IMM (Intel Management Module), which has better control of fan speed.
