RealTek Audio Driver Does Not Install From E4300 Drivers and Applications Disc

ISSUE: When attempting to install the RealTek Audio Driver version 5.10.0.5030 from an E4300 Media-Less Drivers and Applications disc, the driver does not install. The RealTek driver is listed and appears to install from the Drivers and Applications disc but there is still a PCI Device in Other Devices in Device Manager and the audio does not work.

RESOLUTION: Use the following steps to resolve this issue.

Method 1: Edit the 09798app.dta file on the recovery partition and then recreate the E4300 Drivers and Applications Disc.

  1. From the Start menu, click Run.

  2. In the Run dialog box, type: D:\I386\Apps\dta\09798app.dta (where D: is the drive letter of the Recovery Partition). Click OK.

  3. In the Windows dialog box, click Select the program from a list, and then click OK.

  4. In the Open With dialog box, select Notepad, and then click OK.

  5. In the 09798app - Notepad window, add the following to the CmdLine: -f2c:\realtek.log

  6. In Notepad, from the File menu, click Save.

  7. In Notepad, from the File menu, click Exit.

  8. Create the E4300 Drivers and Applications Disc.

  9. After using the E4300 Drivers and Applications Disc to install the driver, the computer should be restarted for the driver installation to complete.

Method 2: Manually install driver from Drivers and Applications disc.

  1. Insert the Drivers and Applications disc into the drive.

  2. From the Start menu, click Run.

  3. In the Run dialog box, type the following and then click OK (where E: is the drive letter of the CD/DVD drive): E:\I386\Apps\App09798\setup.exe

  4. In the Realtek High Definition Audio Driver Setup dialog box, click Next.

  5. In the Realtek High Definition Audio Driver Setup dialog box, click Yes, I want to restart my computer now, and then click Finish.

Method 3: Manually install the driver.

  1. Download the latest RealTek audio driver from the Gateway Web site.

  2. Follow the Installation instructions in the Readme.txt file to install the driver.
