Issues When Logging Into an Active Directory Domain with the Marvell GB NIC

ISSUE: You may experience several different issues when attempting to log into an Active Directory Domain with the Marvell GB network interface card (NIC), however the computer does work once it has logged in. You should experience some, if not all, of the following symptoms:

  • Logs in with a cached account, and does work correctly on domain after logging in.
  • Does not apply Group Policies on login if applicable.
  • Possible Event log error messages (but not necessarily limited to these errors):

    • Event ID: 1054 Source: NT AUTHORITY/SYSTEM Type: Error Description: Windows cannot obtain the domain controller name for your computer network. (The specified domain either does not exist or exist or could not be contacted). Group Policy processing aborted. Data: (unavailable)
    • NETLOGON Error None 5719 N/A No Domain Controller is available for domain due to the following: There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request. . Make sure that the computer is connected to the network and try again. If the problem persists, please contact your domain administrator.

    These event error messages are usually followed by:

      TCPIP Information None 4201 N/A The system detected that network adapter \DEVICE\TCPIP_ was connected to the network, and has initiated normal operation over the network adapter.

  • The computer does open an IP address and function after getting to the desktop.

RESOLUTION: Download and install Marvell Yukon 88E8050 PCI-E ASF Gigabit Ethernet Controller Driver Version: 8.27.4.3 or greater. Filename Marvell827.exe is available from the Gateway Web site.
