Stop Error 0x7e Occurs When Installing GSM 3.0 on a 9115 or 9210 Server

ISSUE: If Gateway System Manager (GSM) 3.0 or GSM 3.0 SP1 is installed on a 9115 or 9210 server, a blue screen memory dump error is produced. Below are the details found on the error message screen.

The error may occur during the GSM installation or when restarting the server after completing the installation.

RESOLUTION: Use one of the following resolutions:

If the error occurs during installation, restart the server. No further action is necessary.

If the error occurs after installation and Windows is not accessible, remove GSM 3.0 by performing the steps below.

  1. Start the computer in Safe mode.

  2. Search for the file "IMBDRV.SYS". Rename all instances to "IMBDRV.BAK".

  3. Restart the server in Windows Normal mode. The blue screen error should not appear, however there will be at least one message displayed that a service failed to start. Click OK to any of these messages.

  4. Remove GSM 3.0, using Add or Remove Programs.
