Connected DVD Player Does Not Work After Installing Service Pack 2

ISSUE: After installing Service Pack 2 on the computer with D5 Streaming Media Server software, content may not play properly over the network. The filenames may be viewable on the Connected DVD but nothing happens when they are played.

RESOLUTION: Add exceptions in Windows Firewall for File and Printer Sharing, Digital 5 Streaming Media Application, and TCP ports 3640 and 3641.

  1. Add exception for File and Printer Sharing.

    1. From the Start menu, click Control Panel.
    2. In Control Panel, click Security Center.
    3. In Windows Security Center, in the Manage Security Settings For area, click Windows Firewall.
    4. In the Windows Firewall window, click the Exceptions tab, and then place a check mark next to File and Printer Sharing.

  2. Add exception for Digital 5 Streaming Media Application.

    1. In the Windows Firewall window, click the Exceptions tab, and then click Add Program.
    2. In the Add a Program dialog box, locate the Digital 5 Streaming Media Application. If it is not on the list, click Browse and locate the D5MediaServer executable in the C:\Program Files\D5 Streaming Media Server folder.

  3. Add exception for TCP port 3640.

    1. In the Windows Firewall window, click the Exceptions tab, and then click Add Port.
    2. In the Add Port dialog box, type: 3640 as the name and port, click to select the TCP bullet item, and then click OK.

  4. Add exception for TCP port 3641.

    1. In the Windows Firewall window, click the Exceptions tab, and then click Add Port.
    2. In the Add Port dialog box, type: 3641 as the name and port, click to select the TCP bullet item, and then click OK.

  5. After adding the exceptions for the Connected DVD Player, in the Windows Firewall window, click OK.
