M520 and M320 Touchpad Not Detected and Drivers Not Installed

ISSUE: On the Gateway M520 or M320 notebooks, when selecting Full System Restore or Repair Application and Drivers from the Applications Drivers and Operating System DVD, the touchpad is not detected and the drivers are not installed.

RESOLUTION: Install the drivers manually.

To install the drivers on the Gateway M520:

  1. From the Start menu, click Run.

  2. In the Run dialog box, type: D:\1gateway\520m\mouse\setup.exe (where D is the drive letter of the DVD drive).

  3. Click OK.

  4. In the Welcome dialog box, click Next.

  5. In the Important Information dialog box, click Next.

  6. In the Start Copying files dialog box, click Next.

  7. Files copy.

  8. In the Setup Complete dialog box, select Yes, I want to restart my computer now., and then click Finish.

  9. The drivers are installed when the computer restarts.

To install the drivers on the Gateway M320:

  1. From the Start menu, click Run.

  2. In the Run dialog box, type: D:\1gateway\320m\mouse\setup.exe (where D is the drive letter of the DVD drive).

  3. Click OK.

  4. In the Welcome dialog box, click Next.

  5. In the Important Information dialog box, click Next.

  6. In the Start Copying files dialog box, click Next.

  7. Files copy.

  8. In the Setup Complete dialog box, select Yes, I want to restart my computer now., and then click Finish.

  9. The drivers are installed when the computer restarts.
