920 Server Stops Responding When Starting to a NetWare 6.0 CD

ISSUE: When starting to a NetWare® 6.0 CD on a 920 server, the installation stops responding with a blinking cursor in the upper-left corner. This occurs after selecting IDE for the type of CD-ROM drive.

RESOLUTION: Depending on the drive configuration, perform one of the following workaround solutions.

  1. In situation one, attach all hard drives to the primary or secondary controllers. The tertiary controller is a UATA-66 controller and only intended to support optical or tape backup drives.

  2. In situation two, disconnect one of the optical drives.
