The 960 or 980 Server System Fan on RAID Cage 1 Increases Speed and Volume Affected Products: Servers Affected Operating Systems: Not OS DependentISSUE: During normal operation, the 960/980 server runs relatively quietly. There may be times when the user notices an increase in the fan speed, causing the server to become what may described as very loud. RESOLUTION: Shut the server down and reseat the heatsink. Make certain there is good contact between the heatsink and the processor. Normally, the heatsink has a thermal pad or white thermal grease to maintain acceptable contact with the processor. Real time monitoring of the processor temperatures and fan speeds can be accomplished in the servers CMOS interface or through the Gateway Server Manager application. |
