MS-DOS Programs and Applications Perform Very Slowly on 2-GHz or Larger Servers Affected Products: Servers
Affected Operating Systems: Windows NT® 4.0, Windows NT® 4.0 Server, Windows® 2000, Windows® XPISSUE: On a server in which the processor speed exceeds 2.0 giaghertz (GHz), some MS-DOS applications may appear to perform very poorly or do not respond altogether. For example, when running Edit in an MS-DOS window, the server may take 20 seconds or more to type each character on the screen. The effect is often lessened or eliminated altogether when the mouse pointer is over the screen or the MS-DOS application is in full screen mode. RESOLUTION: This issue is resolved by either a hotfix obtained directly from Microsoft for legacy operating system versions or through a Microsoft service pack.
