Q: Display may enter LCD TEST MODE after running Windows Update

A: Microscrot Windows Automatic Update may update the Intel Video driver to version 8.15.10.2202.

Gateway has identified a conflict between the Intel video card driver that Microsoft Windows Automatic Update installs and the video card in the ZX6800 and ZX6810 series all-in-one- desktops which may cause the computer's LCD panel to enter a test mode.

To resolve, Gateway recommends to uninstall the updated Intel Video driver through Safe Mode.

Uninstalling the driver through Safe Mode:
  1. Restart the desktop and start tapping the F8 key.
  2. At the Advanced Boot Options screen, select Safe Mode
  3. Click Start and then All Programs
  4. Click on the Gateway folder and then Gateway eRecovery Management
  5. Choose Restore and then choose Reinstall Drivers or Applications
  6. Click on the Contents.
  7. Select the Intel Onboard VGA Generic Driver and click Install.
  8. After the driver finshes installing, restart the computer.

Note: In order to properly install the latest Intel Graphics driver without causing the issue to re-occur, ensure that the display is set to it's native resolution before attempting the update. The native resolution is 1920 x 1080.
