Gateway InfoCentre Software

The Gateway InfoCentre software is your electronic user's guide. It contains information for your computer, giving you the help you need directly on your screen. To launch the Gateway InfoCentre software:
  1. Click on Start and then All Programs
  2. Click on the Gateway folder
  3. Double click on Gateway InfoCentre

Gateway InfoCentre screen:

The Gateway InfoCentre is divided into three main sections:

  • Navigation panel - Located on the left side of the window. The navigation panel includes Back, Forward and Up buttons, as well as a Search bar to help you find your way to the information you're looking for.
  • Category panel - Located on the top of the window. The Category panel has a series of icons that you can mouse over to display a drop-down menu to help you browse the information included within the Gateway InfoCentre.
  • Information panel - Located in the middle of the window. The information panel displays the current information that has been searched for. This defaults to the Welcome screen.

Note: By default the Gateway InfoCentre does not include information specific to your Gateway computer. This can be easily added by clicking on the Check for Updates button that is available at the bottom of the window.

Navigation panel:

The Navigation panel has two tabs, located at the bottom of the panel.

  • Search - Displays the search panel, this includes the Search bar and the brief description of how to use the Search features.
  • Favorites - Displays the favorites panel, this shows a list of the articles that were bookmarked as favorite articles.

The Navigation panel also displays a set of navigation buttons that work similar to your web browser.

  • Back - Goes back one page to a previous article or navigation page.
  • Up - Goes to the parent page for the current article, if available.
  • Forward - Goes forward one page to a previous article or navigation page.

Category panel:

The Category panel has a series of icons that represent the different categories available.

The My Computer icon contains all the technical information about your computer's components and useful tips on how to upgrade your computer. The Other icons contain additional information, such as tutorials on performing day-to-day tasks and tips and information on using the Internet.

Note: The number of categories and titles available may differ according to the computer you purchased.

Information panel:

The Information panel displays the current page that you're on.

Located in the upper right corner are a set of option buttons.

  • Favorite - Adds the current page to the favorites list.
  • Print - Prints the current page.
  • Increase Font Size - Increases the font size for the article displayed.
  • Decrease Font Size - Decreases the font size for the article displayed.
