Q: How do I clone the screen in Windows XP with two displays for the ATI Radeon 9200\9600\9700\9800?

A: This information is for cloning (mirroring) the screen with the ATI Radeon 9600, 9700 Pro, or 9800 Pro video card when using ATI Enhanced Display Drivers under Windows XP. The ATI Control Panel must also be installed for the advanced features. Ensure the latest ATI video card drivers are installed for this feature.

Cloning the screen provides the same picture on each display. This method assumes that you have already connected a second monitor or a TV to the video card.

Note: Only two devices can be connected to the ATI Radeon 9200, 9600, 9700 Pro, or 9800 Pro video card at one time. This can include CRT or LCD displays connected to the analog or DVI connections. If a television is connected through an S-Video connection, the other display device can only be connected to either the DVI or analog connection.

  1. From the Start menu, click Control Panel.

  2. In Control Panel, click Appearance and Themes.

  3. In Appearance and Themes, click Display.

  4. In the Display Properties dialog box, click the Settings tab, and then click Advanced.

  5. In the advanced properties dialog box, click the ATI Display tab.

  6. In the ATI Display tab, select the different display adapter by clicking the enable\disable button located in each display type. The button color changes to green when enabled.

Note: The name of the tab may vary depending on the ATI video card and monitor being used.

Note: Set the display resolution to a resolution that is supported by both display adapters. For example, if there is an 18-inch LCD that supports up to 1280×1024 and a 15-inch LCD that supports up to 1024×768, set the screen resolution to 1024×768 because that is the highest resolution supported by the 15-inch LCD. It is recommended that you use the same size display adapters when cloning to ensure the desktop sizes are the same and that the screen size has the proper picture.
