DirectX Diagnostic Tool - System Tab

To launch the tool, from the Start menu, click Run. In the Run dialog box, in the Open text box, type: Dxdiag. Click OK. On the graphic, click the hyperlinks to view the other tabs. Following the graphic is more information concerning the System tab.

The Microsoft DirectX Diagnostic Tool provides information about the DirectX application programming interface (API) components and drivers on the computer. It enables you to test sound and graphics output and Microsoft® DirectPlay® service providers. It also enables you to disable some hardware acceleration features.

On the System tab, click Help to learn more about DirectX.

The System tab contains information about the operating system, including:

  • Computer name
  • Operating system version
  • Operating system language
  • Processor and memory installed
  • Page file size
  • DirectX version

The System tab also provides access to the Save All Information button, which saves all of the DXDIAG information to a text file - DXDIAG.txt. In the creation process, this file can be placed anywhere on the computer.
