Gateway Lights Out Overview

Gateway® Light Out (GLO) is a server management tool for Gateway servers launched in December 2006 and later. GLO is a tool that accesses the BMC on the server's motherboard to provide management and monitoring capabilities.

  • GLO has two elements: a number of freely available components accessible to anyone who purchases a Gateway server and a Remote KVMS feature, which provides added functionality and is available for an additional cost.
  • GLO uses a Web server interface contained on the server motherboard's BMC. Because of this, the server can be managed completely out-of-band, via the IPMI interface. The server connects to the Web through its dedicated RJ-45 management port, located on the rear of the chassis.
  • Because the interface is Web-based, most Internet browsers can be used. Remote KVMS functionality is accessible to most browsers with Java functionality.

Note: GLO does not function with Internet Explorer (IE) 7 at this time. If you attempt to used GLO in IE 7, you are unable to authenticate on the Web server.

To begin a GLO session, enter the default BMC IP address of 192.168.2.100 in the browser address (URL) line. After entering a username and password, the GLO Home page opens.
