System Features
Part number NS9000

The NS-9000 series of computers feature, and support, up to six Pentium Pro ® microprocessors, which offer outstanding performance for 32-bit operating systems and 32-bit applications. The NS-9000 comes standard with one 200-Mhz Pentium Pro processor installed on a single Tri-6 CPU Module, which provides additional CPU sockets for a total of three Pentium Pro processors. An additional Tri-6 CPU Module may be added to the system, permitting a total of six Pentium Pro processors to be installed in the system.

Memory is held on a separate memory board. Up to 2-GB of RAM may be installed, using SIMM technology. System memory can be organized to support interleaving factors up to 4:1, providing the highest possible performance. The memory board contains eight rows of SIMM sockets, with two sockets in each row. All SIMMs installed must be 60-ns or faster. Also available for the system is an optional DIMM memory board, which will provide up to 4-GB of RAM using Dual Inline Memory Modules (DIMMs).

The system is powered by a 1050-Watt N+1, hot-swappable Power Supply Subsystem (2 x 350W + one 350W spare). The system can be expanded up to four, 350-watt power supply modules (3 x 350W + one spare). If one power supply module loses power, the load is automatically shifted to the other power modules, providing all necessary power to the system without interrupting system operation. The malfunctioning power supply can then be replaced without bringing the system down.

The NS-9000 is built on a tower chassis that offers a large quantity of device bays, allowing great flexibility in the type and quantity of drives and other storage devices that can be installed. It comes equipped with a 3.5-inch 1.44-MB floppy drive, an 8X Speed SCSI CD-ROM and a Smart RAID Cage 6d, with room for up to six hot-swappable hard drives.

Moving from the inside of the system to the outside -- on the front panel of the computer is a touch-screen LCD panel which allows the user to view the status of any of the monitored devices within the computer. For example, by simply touching the device icons on the LCD panel, the panel will display information such as CPU temperature, CPU fan speed, CPU voltage, system voltage, speed of the system (chassis) fans, and temperature inside the chassis. These features make the NS-9000 an ideal server for mission-critical applications.
