5.25-inch Device Bays

The NS-9000 has five available 5.25-inch device bays which support removable-media devices, such as CD-ROM’s or tape backup drives. A factory-installed 8X SCSI CD-ROM drive comes in the bottom bay. These bays support 5.25-inch devices, as well as 3.5-inch devices with adapter brackets. Each unused device bay is covered by a plastic filler plate behind which a metal RF shield is installed to reduce RFI emissions. Each RF shield is held in place by two screws.

The filler plates can be removed by first removing the RF shield and then pressing the end tabs (located on the back of the filler plate) inward and then out of the chassis. Sometimes, the system may ship with the filler plates still connected to each other. In this case, you must remove all of the connected plates by pressing in on each of their end tabs and pushing the whole piece out of the chassis. Separate the filler plates by bending them along their joint until they snap apart. Then reinstall the plates in the unused bays.
