Q: How do I replace an expansion card?

A:

  1. Set any jumpers and switches on the replacement card, if required by the card's instructions.

  2. Turn off the computer, and then disconnect the power cord and all external peripheral devices.

  3. Open the chassis.

  4. Disconnect any cables attached to the card.

  5. Remove the existing card by pressing gently on the expansion card retention clip and sliding the retention clip back through the rear panel while pressing upward on the card guide release tab for full-length cards.

  6. Pull the card out of the slot.

  7. Place the replacement card in the slot and press the card firmly into the connector.

  8. After the card is securely in place, slide the card release tab down for full-length cards. For all cards, press the expansion card retention clip through the back panel until it clicks into place.

  9. Connect any cables to card.

  10. Close the chassis.

  11. Reconnect the external peripheral devices and the power cord, and then turn on the computer.
