Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why are the labels on the bottom 980 Server hot-swap drive cage 8, 9, 10, and 11 rather than 0, 1, 2, and 3?

A: The labels on the hot-swap drive cage indicate which SCSI ID is assigned to each slot. The second or bottom hot-swap drive cage is assigned SCSI IDs 8, 9, 10, and 11 to allow you to easily differentiate between the two hot-swap drive cages. Because the AMI RAID controllers use ID 7, it would confusing to use sequences such as 4, 5, 6, 8 or 6, 8, 9, 10.
