Q: On a Gateway 9315 server, how can I tell which firmware revision a SATA hard drive is currently using?

A: The original firmware revision may be printed on the label of the SATA hard drive. However, the drive may have been flashed to a later revision since it was manufactured. To confirm the firmware version, follow the appropriate steps below.

SATA RAID disabled

    The firmware is displayed when the drive is detected during the BIOS scan during system startup. The information is displayed similar to what appears below. In this example, V32OA6MA is the firmware version.

SATA RAID enabled

    The firmware can be viewed inside the Intel embedded RAID BIOS. To view the drive firmware, perform the following steps.

    1. Power on the server, and then press the CTRL+E keys when the Intel Embedded RAID BIOS appears.

    2. From the main menu, select Objects and then Physical Drive by highlighting each option, and then pressing the ENTER key.

    3. Highlight the drive for which you wish to view the firmware, and then press the F2 key. The firmware is listed next to Revision No.
