Windows 2003 Server Installation for the 995 Server
Part number 3501655,4000847,850912
Pre Installation
Before you begin installing Microsoft® Windows® 2003 Server on the 995 server, obtain the appropriate drivers from the Gateway Web site or from the Server Companion CD (SCCD) provided with your server. The only drivers needed are for the Hot-Plug PCI slots.
Installation
No drivers are needed for the text and GUI portions of the installation. The integrated SCSI and network controllers are natively supported by Windows 2003, which eliminates the need to press the F6 key to specify additional drivers.
Note: When installing third-party devices such as raid controllers or extra network adapters that are not natively supported by Windows 2003 Server, additional drivers may be needed.
- Verify that the computer is turned off, and then disconnect all USB devices, such as a printer, scanner, or camera. This does not include the USB mouse or keyboard.
- Turn on the computer with the Server Companion CD (SCCD) placed in the CD/DVD drive. During startup, a screen prompts whether to boot to the hard drive or to the CD-ROM drive. Select Boot to CD-ROM.
