Windows 2000 Installation Using the Restore Process

Note: This installation is for use with the operating system CD supplied with the server from Gateway. Do not use these instructions if using a retail version of the operating system.

  1. Turn on the server. Place the Server Companion CD (SCCD) in the CD-ROM drive. The server starts to the CD. On the Select an option and press enter screen, use the arrow keys to select Boot from CD-ROM, and then press the ENTER key.

  2. On the Gateway Utilities Main Menu screen, type: 1.

  3. On the Gateway Utilities Warning screen, type:1.

  4. The drive is formatted to FAT32. On the Gateway Utilities Confirmation screen, press any key to continue.

  5. The server restarts. On the Select an option and press enter screen, use the arrow keys to select Boot from CD-ROM, and then press ENTER.

  6. On the Gateway Utilities Main Menu screen, type: 2.

  7. On the Gateway Utilities Windows Installation screen, remove the SCCD, and then place the Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Server operating system CD in the CD-ROM drive. Press any key to continue.

  8. On the End–User License Agreement screen, read the license agreement and then type: Y.

  9. Files are copied to the hard drive.

  10. The server restarts and installs Windows 2000 Server. When completed, a Complete window opens. Remove the operating system CD, and then place the SCCD in the CD-ROM drive. In the Complete window, click OK.

  11. Driver files are copied to the hard drive. The installation automatically restarts the installation. Upon entry into Windows 2000 Server, the Configure your Server window opens. Select I will Configure the server later, and then click Next.
