Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I use all three bays for SCSI SCA hard drives in the 955 server?

A: All three drive bays can be used for SCA hard drives if the CD-ROM and floppy disk drive module is removed. Use the following process to implement this change.

  1. Remove the front bezel. Turn the lock on the front bezel counter-clockwise to release the bezel, and then slide the bezel off.

Following is a view of the 955 server with the bezel removed.

  2. Remove the floppy disk and CD-ROM drive module from the server. Use the small handle under the floppy disk drive to pull out the module.

  3. Remove the screws holding the plastic spacer in the hard drive carrier. Place the SCA hard drive in the hard drive carrier. Fasten the carrier to the hard drive using the screws previously removed.

  4. The following graphic depicts the connectors located on the SCSI backplane in the third bay. The top connector is used for the floppy disk and CD-ROM drive module. The bottom connector is used for the SCA hard drive.

  5. Insert the hard drive carrier in the bay. The hard drive connects to the SCSI backplane in the same manner as the other two bays.

  6. Place the bezel back on the server and lock it into place.
