Q: How do I replace the power supply in the 960 Server Chassis?

A: Remove the power supply

  1. Open the server chassis.

  2. Disconnect all power supply cables from the motherboard, drives, and the RAID bay's SCSI backplane, noting their locations and orientation for later reconnection.

  3. Release all cable ties and remove the cables from them. Make note of which cables use each cable tie.

  4. On the rear of the server chassis, remove the two screws that secure the power supply.

  5. Pull the power supply out of the chassis. Ensure that the cables do not snag on any internal components.

Remove the power supply from the tray

  1. On the front of the power supply, remove the four tray screws.

  2. On the rear of the power supply, remove the two tray screws.

  3. Separate the tray from the power supply.

Replace the power supply

  1. Place the new power supply in the tray. Secure it with four screws on the front and two screws on the rear.

  2. Guide the power supply cables into the rear opening of the server chassis, slide the power supply into place, and then secure to the server chassis with two screws.
