A Top panel thumbscrews

There are three bays for hot swap fans located below the top panel thumbscrews. Each bay supports two fans for a total of six system fans.

B Control panel. Either the standard control panel or an optional local control panel (LCP), as shown here, can be installed in the server.
C Three USB 2.0 ports

Note: The non-maskable interrupt (NMI) button is located to the left of USB port 3. It is a recessed button.

D VGA monitor port

Note: It can take up to five minutes for video to appear after the server is turned on.

E Optical drive bay
F Two 5.25 peripheral drive bays (full height)
G Ten hot swap SCSI hard drive bays numbered from top to bottom A4-A0 and B4-B0

There are LEDs on each drive carrier that indicate the status of each drive as follows:

  • Green, On: Drive is being initialized
  • Green, blinking: Drive is active
  • Amber, On: Drive/slot failure
  • Amber, slow blinking (~ 1 Hz): Predictive drive/slot failure or array rebuild is in progress
  • Amber, fast blinking (~ 2.51 Hz): Array build interrupted, rebuild on empty slot, or identify slot
