Q: How do I remove and replace the power switch control panel in the Gateway BTX server case?

A: Remove the power switch control panel

  1. Turn off the computer, and then disconnect the power cords.

  2. Remove the computer's right side panel.

  3. Remove the front bezel. The power switch control panel is located in the center of the front of the case.

  4. Inside the case, remove the air duct.

  5. Remove the front fan assembly.

  6. Inside the front of the case, locate the power switch control panel. Follow its cables to their connections on the motherboard. Carefully note the connections, and then disconnet the cables.

  7. Inside the front of the case, pull back on the power switch control panel tab. When the latch tab clears the slot, pull the control panel toward the bottom of the case, and then lift it free.

  8. Take care that the cables do not catch on internal components.

Replace the power switch control panel

  1. Inside the case, align the tabs on the front of the power switch control panel with the slots in the front of the case, and then slide the control panel up until it latches into place.

  2. Route the cables to the left side of the case, over the top of the hard drive cage, and then connect them to the motherboard.

  3. Replace the front fan assembly. Ensure that the power switch control panel cables are not pinched. A notch in the fan assembly provides a path for the cables.

  4. Replace the air duct.

  5. Replace the front bezel.

  6. Replace the computer's right side panel.

  7. Connect the power cords, and then turn on the computer.
