Intel 82559 NIC Installation

  1. Insert the Server Companion CD (SCCD) into the CD-ROM drive. In the index home page window, click the 7400 button.

  2. In the left frame, click Windows 2000.

  3. In the right frame, under Windows 2000 On-Board Drivers and Utilities, click Intel NIC 82559 Controller (7508723).

  4. In the File Download dialog box, click Run this program from its current location, and then click OK.

  5. In the Security Warning dialog box, click Yes.

  6. In the Intel(R) PRO/100 LAN Adapter Software and Drivers v3.7 - InstallShield Wizard dialog box, click I accept the terms in the license agreement, and then click Next.

  7. The path to download the driver appears in the dialog box. Click Next.

  8. The files are extracted. Click Finish.

  9. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel. In Control Panel, double-click the System icon. In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab. On the Hardware tab, click Device Manager. In the Device Manager window, click Intel 8255x-based PCI Ethernet Adapter (10/100). On the Action menu, click Properties.

  10. In the Intel 8255x-based PCI Ethernet Adapter (10/100) Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab. On the Driver tab, click Update Driver.

  11. In the Upgrade Device Driver Wizard dialog box, click Next.

  12. Click Search for a suitable driver for my device (recommended), and then click Next.

  13. Select the Specify a location check box, and then clear the other check boxes. Click Next.

  14. In the Copy manufacturer's files from text box, type: c:\intel (where c is the drive letter of the default location where the drivers are extracted). Click OK.

  15. The driver is located. Click Next.

  16. The driver is installed. Click Finish.

  17. In the Intel 8255x-based PCI Ethernet Adapter (10/100) Properties dialog box, click Close.

  18. In the Device Manager window, click Intel 8255x-based PCI Ethernet Adapter (10/100) #2. On the Action menu, click Properties.

  19. In the Intel 8255x-based PCI Ethernet Adapter (10/100) #2 Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab. On the Driver tab, click Update Driver.
