Q: Why is the available memory on the MP3 player less than the indicated Megabytes (64,128,256), even if there are no files stored on the player?

A: The megabyte (MB) size indicates the total memory capacity of the MP3 player. Some memory is taken up by the embedded programs on the player, such as the file management program, music player program, and so forth, and is not available for file storage.
