Q: After I plug in the MP3 player to my computer's USB port, the Removable Disk dialog box does not appear, or my computer cannot find the Removable Disk. What should I do?

A: Check to verify that your computer supports USB devices.

Windows® XP:

  1. Open Control Panel.

    • If you are using the Windows XP default Start menu, from the Start menu, click Control Panel.
    • If you are using the classic Start menu, from the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

  2. In Control Panel, open System.

    • If the computer is in Category View, click Performance and Maintenance, and then click the System icon.
    • If the computer is in Classic View, double-click the System icon.

  3. In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.

  4. In the Device Manager window, check to see that Universal Serial Bus controllers appears, and that USB Open Host Controller or Open Host Controller is selected. If Universal Serial Bus controllers does not appear in the Device Manager window, your computer does not support USB devices.

Windows 2000 and Windows Me:

  1. From the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

  2. In Control Panel, double-click the System icon.

  3. In the System Properties dialog box, click the Device Manager tab.

  4. In the Device Manager window, check to see that Universal Serial Bus controllers appears, and that USB Open Host Controller or Open Host Controller is selected. If Universal Serial Bus controllers does not appear in the Device Manager window, your computer does not support USB devices.

If you have Windows 98 SE, verify that the USB driver is installed correctly.
