Why is there a delay with the Media Center PC's Live TV output compared to a standard television?

When the Media Center 2005 is playing Live TV, the video and audio signals are recorded to the hard drive to allow for PVR functions like rewind and pause. This causes a 1-2 seconds delay when compared to the video\audio output on a standard TV. This feature cannot be disabled as the recording to the hard drive is done automatically by the Media Center application.
