Disable F11 Prompt on Startup of Gateway System Recovery Computer

The F11 prompt may need to be hidden in certain circumstances. This patch hides the F11 prompt from appearing during startup on a Gateway System Recovery computer. The F11 prompt is not displayed but is still functional for system administrators and tech support to use.

To install this patch, use the following steps.

  1. On the Gateway Web site, download RemoveCountDown.exe at the following URL: http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers/getFile.asp?id=20060&uid=76432995

  2. Double-click the RemoveCountDown.exe file that was downloaded. The needed files extract to the C:\Cabs\RemoveCountDown folder.

  3. From the Start menu, click Run.

  4. In the Run dialog box, type the following, including the quotation marks, and then click OK. "C:\Cabs\RemoveCountDown\RemoveCountDown.exe"

  5. In the Remove F11 Bootkey dialog box, click OK.

  6. In the Remove F11 Bootkey dialog box, click Quit.

Note: The F11 prompt can be re-enabled by running C:\Cabs\RemoveCountDown\RemoveCountDown.exe again.
