- Read the documentation that prompts you to go to a Web site to learn about the Express Upgrade to Windows Vista:
http://gateway.com/programs/vista/index.php?page=express&rdr=status488
http://www.emachines.com/vista/express
Note: If you purchased a retail computer, the information about the Web site is typically located on a rebate form or receipt. If you purchased a direct computer the information about the Web site is listed on the insert packaged with the computer.
- When you go to the Express Upgrade micro-site, you see a link to Moduslink to submit their request for backup media.

Notes:
- During the upgrade ordering process there is a typographical error indicating that the COA number is on the Microsoft Office backup media but the actual COA ID needed is from the Windows XP COA label on the computer.
View Picture
- The upgrade ordering process indicates that a COA number is needed, but actually a 14 digit COA ID is needed (the COA number, which is not used in this step, is also known as the product key and is a 25 digit number on the COA label).

- During the upgrade ordering process, if the process is cancelled or fails after the COA ID is entered, the ordering process cannot be re-ran. Once a COA ID has been entered, the process cannot be completed again because it is considered used. COA IDs that have been used are currently being reset after 12 hours. If you experience this error message, wait 12 hours and then attempt the process again.
- Enter your name, shipping address, e-mail address, home phone number, and company information (if applicable). If there is a cost associated with the order you must also enter your payment information. After all needed information is complete, click Next.
