Windows XP Service Pack 3 Network Installation Package

The Windows® XP Service Pack 3 Network Installation Package download is approximately 320 megabytes (MB) in size and is ideal for installing Service Pack 3 on multiple computers. To install the Microsoft® Windows® XP Service Pack 3 Network Installation Package, perform the steps below.

Note: It is recommended that you follow the instructions in Microsoft Knowledge Base article 950717 - Steps to take before you install Windows XP Service Pack 3.

Service Pack 3 installation

  1. Download the 32-bit Windows XP Service Pack 3 Network Installation Package WindowsXP-KB936929-SP3-x86-ENU.exe from Microsoft.com.

  2. Run the WindowsXP-KB936929-SP3-x86-ENU.exe file.

  3. In the Open File - Security Warning dialog box, click Run.

  4. Files are extracted.

  5. In the Windows XP Service Pack 3 dialog box, click Next.

  6. In the License Agreement dialog box, click I Agree, and then click Next.

  7. In the Select Options dialog box, click Next.

  8. Setup inspects the current configuration and backs up files.

  9. Service Pack 3 is installed.

  10. In the Completing the Windows XP Service Pack 3 Installation Wizard dialog box, click Finish.

  11. The computer restarts.

  12. In the Help Protect your PC dialog box, select the appropriate option, and then click Next.

  13. Installation is complete.
