Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I select Media Center do be the default DVD Player?

A: After placing a DVD into the DVD drive for the first time, you are prompted to specify which application should be used to play the DVD. Select an application from the list, and then click OK. If you select the Always do the selected action check box, that application will be the default application for playing DVDs in the future.

Note: You will not see this dialog box if you are running Media Center in Full-Screen mode. This is because Media Center is a DirectX exclusive application in Full-Screen mode and the dialog box is suppressed by design to ensure video stability.

If you want to modify the default application for DVD playback at a later point in time, perform these steps.

  1. In Windows Explorer, right-click the DVD drive, and then select Properties.

  2. Click the AutoPlay tab.

  3. In the Select a content type box, select DVD movie.

  4. Select the Select an action to perform option, and then select an application from the list.

  5. Click OK.
