You can play the following types of digital media files with Windows Media Player. You can also select Windows Media Player as the default player for any of the listed file types.

*To play .mp2v files or DVD movies, there must be a software or hardware DVD decoder, such as InterVideo WinDVD, installed on the computer. Windows XP Media Player may generate a message that a compatible DVD Decoder is not installed on the computer.
