Q: How do I enable or disable Windows XP interface components?

A: Note Enabling or disabling these components can significantly hinder or enhance performance depending on the hardware specifications of your computer. You can enable or disable portions of the Windows XP interface by clearing or selecting a check box:
  1. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
  2. On the Advanced tab, under Performance, click Settings.
  3. To select all of the checkboxes, click Adjust for best appearance. To clear all of the checkboxes, click Adjust for best performance. Selecting Let Windows choose what's best for my computer, will select the options Windows has determined to be best suited for the capabilities of your computer.
