Q: How can I find out what version of DirectX I currently have installed?A:
Follow these steps to use the DirectX Diagnostic Tool to determine the version of DirectX that is installed on your computer.
- Open the Run dialog box.
- In the the Run dialog box, in the Open text box, type: dxdiag. Click OK.
- The version of DirectX appears on the DirectX Version line in the System Information box, on the System tab in the DirectX Diagnostic Tool window.
Note: To check the version information for each DirectX file, click the DirectX Files tab and find the appropriate files.
- When finished viewing, click Exit.
Note: If Windows cannot find the dxdiag program, DirectX version 5.0 or earlier is installed on your computer. If this is the case, download and install the current version of DirectX.
